Communication in maritime solutions

The Marine and Ports unit of ABB in Finland, located in Vuosaari, Helsinki, and Hamina, develops electrical and automation solutions for the maritime industry. The flagship product of the unit is the electric Azipod® propulsion system, which promotes fuel efficiency, energy efficiency, and maneuverability for vessels such as cruise ships, icebreakers, ro-ro vessels, and tankers.

Fuel savings are based on uninterrupted water flow to the propellers. Thanks to the 360-degree rotating control unit, ships equipped with the Azipod propulsion system have better maneuverability, are quieter, and also have more efficient use of space inside the ship. Improved maneuverability significantly enhances safety.
